Free money for everyone! That’s what Rutger Bregman talked about in his recent TEDxMaastricht lecture. He is not the only one that’s sees a basic income for everyone as a solution for recent problems in economics and social structures, but he is the most recent one to talk and write about it.
Being a journalist for Dutch news medium De Correspondent Rutger Bregman wrote an excellent article ‘Waarom we iedereen gratis geld moeten geven’ (in Dutch) about it last year, leading to the, also Dutch, book ‘Gratis Geld voor Iedereen’ that came out last month. Luckily the article was translated and published by The Washington Post. At De Correspondent you can read the English translation here: ‘Why we should give free money to everyone’.
